Your heart's barn, warmed by your body,
shelters hope, shelters hope.
These and the wild, wide world
are your only home.
Love something - a tree, a rock -
that isn't kin to you, and feel yourself
shrink when it dies or is broken.
Welcome the world's extraordinary
visitation. Trust in a discipline
of presence, and attention.
Walk far, dream deep, laugh well
and often. Weep over and over
and over again. Your tears
cleanse not only your vision
but the world at large. Speak
to the spaciousness within your life,
and listen, listen. Care for yourself
and spend yourself abundantly.
Look at everything, dismiss nothing.
Touch, taste, smell, feel, sense and see.
Welcome every new
annunciation.
Look for the one who knows you
by heart. Beneath all sound,
silence wells, cool and dark and clear,
living water rising freely,
bathing the roots of your dear life,
source and sustenance.
